- The geologic map of the Craters of the Moon 1:100,000-scale quadrangle depicts the predominantly Holocene Craters of the Moon lava field and surrounding Pleistocene basaltic lava fields. Radiocarbon and 40Ar/39Ar ages and paleomagnetic data are used to construct stratigraphic relationships for the Pleistocene lava fields. The complex structural and stratigraphic relationships of Paleozoic sedimentary rocks and Tertiary volcanic rocks in the Lake Hills and southern Pioneer Range are shown in the northwest corner of the map. The map covers the northern two-thirds of the Craters of the Moon National Monument.
